How do booking and scheduling work?
To schedule your dog’s pickup or drop-off, call The Hydrant at 631-920-3706.
We’ll review pickup details, your dog's needs, and any special accommodations. Our transportation reservations are made by phone to ensure a smooth, stress-free ride.
How far in advance should I book?
You should book V.I.Pup. Pickup as soon as possible – ideally at the same time you make your boarding reservation.
If that's not possible, we'll do our best to accommodate bookings when space allows, up to 2–3 days before the scheduled ride date.
Please note that V.I.Pup. Pickup is not available on holidays.
Can I schedule on the Pet Exec app?
At this time, V.I.Pup. Pickup reservations should be made by phone. You can still book their boarding stay in the Pet Exec app. Then, call our team at 631-920-3706 to schedule your dog’s ride.
What times do you pick up and drop off? Can I specify a time?
V.I.Pup. Pickup operates one daily pickup and drop-off window, between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm, 7 days a week. When you call to book, we'll do our best to accommodate your preferred time within that window.
What if I need a last-minute pickup or drop-off?
We'll always do our best to accommodate last-minute transportation requests. Availability is limited and should be booked at least 3 days before the ride date. Call us at 631-920-3706 to discuss your dog’s transportation.
Please note that requests made less than 3 days in advance may incur a 20% surcharge.
How should I prepare my dog for transport?
To help make the ride as comfortable as possible, we recommend giving your dog a potty break before pickup and avoiding a meal right before travel if they're prone to car sickness. If your dog takes motion sickness medication, be sure to administer it before pickup.
Our van is equipped with crash-tested Rock Creek Crates, which serve as the safety restraints. Built with a professionally welded aircraft-grade aluminum frame, these crates are designed to keep your dog secure, comfortable, and calm throughout the ride.
Bring their leash separately, along with any food, medications, and belongings they'll need during their boarding stay.
What are the van's interior accommodations like? What safety features does it include?
Your dog travels in style and safety. Our van is equipped with 2 large, 2 medium, and 2 small Rock Creek Crates — the only aluminum dog crates to earn a 5-star crash-test certification from the Center for Pet Safety, the highest rating possible. The crates are engineered to act as the safety restraints themselves with features that ease anxious pups and keep escape artists secure.
Is there room for my dog's food or belongings? What about refrigeration?
Absolutely! There's plenty of room for your dog's food, medications, bedding, toys, and other belongings. If your pup requires refrigerated or frozen food, let us know when you book so we can prepare accordingly and ensure everything arrives safely with them.
How long will my dog be in the van?
Transport is limited to a 20-mile radius, so most rides are approximately 30–45 minutes. Actual time may vary based on traffic and route.
Do I need to be home when my dog is dropped off?
Yes, you or someone you trust to handle your dog must be present at both pickup and drop-off.
At pickup, you'll need to bring your dog out on their collar/harness and leash to hand off to our driver, along with any items they’ll need during their stay.
At drop-off, someone should be home to receive your dog and any items from their visit. If your plans change, just give us a call so we can coordinate accordingly.
Who will be driving my dog?
Your dog will be in the hands of a licensed driver and trained member of The Hydrant team. Like every member of our staff, our drivers are trained to understand, manage, and care for dogs of all temperaments and needs, so your pup is in good hands long before they arrive at our door.
